We are recruiting for an Environmental, Social and Governance Officer to join the team in Ghent. This role offers hybrid working, with 2 days per week based from home.

About the role …

As ESG Officer you will be responsible for defining and managing a sustainability roadmap by bringing structure and creating processes to embed sustainability into everything we do. You are accountable for the preparation of the annual CSRD and other reporting including information and data gathering, content development and external assurance. 

Key Responsibilities …

  • Maintain and revise our carbon reduction plan and carbon emissions reporting; improve ways to collect carbon data from external stakeholders as well as support our US mother company for their carbon emissions compliance
  • Set, execute & monitor short- and long-term sustainability goals and translate them into clear KPI’s
  • Build and implement reporting and control processes as well as technology solutions to ensure the delivery of accurate, complete, consistent, and auditable data
  • Partner with the Finance team in order to ensure compliance with all existing and future ESG related reporting obligations (e.g. on packaging waste)
  • Conduct analysis and review ESG data to identify trends, risks and best practices and propose recommendations on necessary actions regarding new ESG reporting and disclosure trends and requirements that may impact the company and its position in the industry

About you …

  • A master degree in a relevant field such as engineering, sustainable development, environmental science, chemistry, business law, finance and economics or equivalent
  • Extensive working experience in one or more of the above mentioned domains
  • Experience in sustainability and/or ESG matters
  • Hands-on knowledge of ESG and CSRD, EU taxonomy, decarbonisation, circular economy, due diligence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically, but also identify, develop, and implement practical solutions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Fluent English both written and oral; good knowledge of Dutch and French are a big plus
